BRADFORD City will take on CD Eldense on July 14 and expect to have a venue for the overseas pre-season tour clash confirmed this weekend, as the Spanish club take on Castilla for a place in La Liga 2.

Supporters are being offered travel packages to go out and watch City’s European clash, and those wishing to travel are asked to book via City’s official overseas travel partner Kadima Sports.

Kadima have operated similar overseas trips in the past and coordinate events in Spain and other countries.

The firm set up a UK branch to their organisation, back in March, to enable City to put together tour packages for their upcoming trip and supporters have until July 1 to book.

City fans will stay in a choice of two Spanish towns and be transferred to the soon-to-be confirmed stadium direct a few hours before kick-off.

Bantams CEO Ryan Sparks said: “Kadima have been operating in the events and tours sectors for a long time and have been great in helping us put together this trip.

“They are a Spanish company but for us to work with them effectively as a UK company, they agreed to set up a British arm to their business which allows us to trade with them more easily.

“This company was specifically set up for our first overseas tour with them and it will be used as they work with other UK clubs and us in the future.”

One of City’s key players behind the scenes is chief commercial officer Davide Longo, who has successfully worked with Kadima in the past.

Sparks explained: “Davide’s worked alongside Kadima in the past on a similar project which was successful, involving a match in Spain when he was at Featherstone Rovers.

“We’re hoping this will be the first of many overseas trips, including matches, so we can create a bit of a legacy playing against clubs that Bradford City have never faced.

“The deadline for booking is next weekend, so people need to be aware that they’re running out of time to get on board. Whether you’re in Spain or the UK, you need to buy a package through Kadima to attend the game.”

As for how many fans City are expecting to take out to Spain, Sparks said: “We’re hoping to see at least a few hundred, if not more.

“The uptake is increasing the closer we get to the deadline and as pre-season comes into view.

“It’s really important people do pre-book because there won’t be a provision for people turning up on the day trying to get tickets, that won’t be possible.

“We have plans for future games in different countries across Europe and Kadima could run all of that.

“I wouldn’t rule out any countries, and we have a desire to play out in Italy, given our evolving Macron partnership, and we would ideally want to have that pre-season camp around a match.

“I was in Spain when we had the camp there last year, and I felt it contributed heavily towards our improved league position.

“It’s good from a conditioning perspective and it’s a fantastic team-bonding exercise, especially because we had a very much new squad last season.

“The only thing we felt we fell short with was something to finish the camp off with, that being a match. We wanted people to have something to come and watch beyond a few training sessions and we think this is the perfect solution.

“Eldense are one game away from the second tier of Spanish football potentially and they’re a proper football club who are looking forward to playing us and have been great to deal with.”
