GEORGE Flanagan made his 250th career appearance in Bulls' whirlwind 44-38 Betfred Championship win over Swinton last Sunday, with interim head coach Lee Greenwood joking that the veteran hooker will still be showing off his famed show-and-go in a car park when he's 50.

As for the rest of the season, Greenwood expects Flanagan's game time to be a little more limited for Bradford, even if the 36-year-old still has an important part to play.

On Flanagan's milestone match, Greenwood laughed: “We were joking with him, saying he’s probably missed 300 games in that time, so the next time we drop him, he’s going to give us a shirt presentation back.

“George has been around the block, and I’ve known him for a while.

“He burst on to the scene as a quick nine who scored loads of tries for Batley, having come through the Bradford system as a kid.

“He’s just had to morph his game a little as older guys do, they slow down a bit.

“But that show-and-go of his will still be fooling people when he’s 50 in a car park somewhere.”

On a more serious note, Greenwood added: “He’s still good to have around as a voice.

“He knows he might not play every single week, but he understands where he’s at in his career and where we’re at as a team.

“Now we’re putting Jordan (Lilley) in at nine, it limits it a bit to even have another hooker in the squad to be sharing game time, especially if Jordan carries on playing the way he has been.”

Greenwood added: “George is a Bradford lad who wants the best for the team.

“Of course he wants to be a part of it, but he’s still got a part to play anyway this season I’m sure.”
