KEVEN Appo is on the scoresheet for the Bulls and admits there is more to come.

The 24-year-old Papua New Guinea international was among eight try-scorers for the Bulls as they despatched plucky amateurs York Acorn 62-6 in the third round of the Betfred Challenge Cup at Odsal on Sunday.

However, the former PNG Hunters player admitted that he was surprised to get a scoring pass.

Appo said: “I didn’t expect George (Flanagan Jnr) to pass to me as he was down on the floor.

“I thought the ball was going to pop out but thankfully I held it.

“I have scored my first try for the Bulls in my fourth game, and that is always a great feeling.

“It is massive for me and there is more to come.”

Scoring tries may not be new for the powerhouse forward but playing with snow on the surrounds of the pitch certainly was.

“He said: “It is not new to me to play in these conditions, such as a wet pitch, but it was my first experience of snow.

“There has been no snow in Queensland or PNG!”

As for trying to treat the cup tie with the same intensity that they would when facing Featherstone Rovers or Sheffield Eagles, Appo said: “We didn’t take this game lightly.

“In every game we put our best foot forward and give our best to prove that we are a competitive team.

“The boys put in a very good effort and a win is a win but there is room for us to improve.”

Comparing the standard of the Championship to the Queensland Cup in Australia, Appo said: “It is a competitive and much the same as the Queensland Cup (in which he played for PNG Hunters).”

At the moment, Appo is just concentrating on his rugby league while he waits for his family to sort out the paperwork and come over.

He said: “I am just playing my game. Hitting hard is the footy that I play and I just focus on myself.

“My family have been watching the games (on streaming) and they have been very impressed with me and very supportive, giving me messages and advice.

“There are a lot of requirements to get my family over but we have started the process and I am really looking forward to them coming over.”
