BRADFORD Bulls Women are seeking donations as they look to improve the day-to-day running of the club ahead of the new season.

Bulls' league campaign gets underway in April and the women's side have set up a fundraising page (fundraising.spond.com) in hope of gaining some financial backing from the public.

Despite the club chasing donations, assistant coach Kieran Walker admitted that there is no cause for concern.

He said: "There is nothing to be concerned about with the fundraiser we have set up. We've done it to help with the day-to-day running of the team because we are always looking for that little extra to give the team a boost.

"We've got the full backing from the club; there's no us and them, and it is a whole Bradford Bulls club; not just the men's team. For us it's just a case of getting a little bit more money in so that we can make it feel more professional for the girls. The players then don't have to worry about any funding needs because it's there for them and it's good to go."

The Bulls get their Women's Super League (Group Two) season underway on April 16 when they host Leigh Miners Rangers Ladies.

Shaun Flynn's and Walker's side are well into their preparations ahead of the new campaign commencing and Bradford's assistant coach has been delighted with what he's seen in the off-season.

He said: "It's been a very good pre-season so far. The team have been working extremely hard and we are at the point now where the girls are chomping at the bit to get going.

"It's difficult with the girls not being contracted to the team because you get a lot of movement with players wanting to leave to other clubs, different career paths and some head to university. So, we have a big mix of old and new players at the start of every season now, so it's all about the girls getting to know each other as people and how they play the game.

"It's worked brilliantly this time around because we've had some excellent players arrive at the club, we've added more experience and then we've kept a good core group of players within the team."

Walker added: "We do have a young squad, so it was key that we brought experience in ahead of the new season. It will help to push our young squad to the next level. Last year was a difficult one to take for some of the younger players, especially because we got so close to being promoted to the top Super League division.

"We lacked that experience in some of the bigger games; that someone to carry us forward with a cooler, calmer head.

"We've got that added experience in the side this year, so hopefully it benefits us massively."
