CITY have added a new attacking left back to their squad after signing Rotherham’s Tolaji Bola on loan.

The 24-year-old joins from the Millers until the end of the season - becoming the third arrival in a week.

The Arsenal academy product made 12 appearances on loan at Rochdale before signing for Rotherham 17 months ago. He made 13 appearances last year with four of them in League One.

Bola has had two sub outings in the Championship earlier in the season - the last in Paul Warne’s final game in September before leaving to take charge at Derby.

He is yet to feature under Matt Taylor after being side-lined by a quad injury.

The wing-back has been back in training since the end of November but has found himself behind Cohen Bramall in the Millers' starting line-up.

Now he is raring to make up for lost time at Valley Parade.

Bola said: “I am really happy to be here and cannot wait to get started.

“I was really attracted by the history of the club, the fanbase and, of course, the manager. All those things made it an easy decision to join.

“The gaffer has spoken about wanting an attacking outlet and quality from wide areas.

"As a full-back, I pride myself on defending, but can also get forward and contribute towards attacks.

“I want to show what I can do and come in, make a difference and help the team reach our goal of promotion, which I am sure we can achieve.”

Bola's arrival will put a question mark over Matty Foulds, who has enjoyed a regular run at left back for the past four months since Liam Ridehalgh was injured. Ridehalgh is now back in full training.

Hughes is pleased to make Bola the fifth recruit of the January window.

The City boss said: “He is a strong defender who, thanks to a real willingness to get forward and attack, is equally as comfortable operating at wing-back.

“Having already represented Rotherham in the Championship and League One, after previously spending time on loan at Rochdale, he is well accustomed to senior football in the EFL and the standard required.

“Tolaji is ready to play football and show the Bradford City supporters what he can do, and we are excited to see him in action at Valley Parade.”

Bola becomes the third loan signing of the window after Thierry Nevers and Dara Costelloe.

City had already snapped up Ciaran Kelly and Matt Derbyshire on permanent deals.
