FORMER Bulls captain Steve Crossley has joined Hunslet.

The veteran prop had three spells at hometown side Bradford, but it all ended on a sour note earlier this year.

Speaking exclusively to the T&A after his final game against Widnes, he let rip at the club in an extraordinary parting shot.

He also told us he was hoping to join another Championship club, and that he would probably wait until January to assess his options.

But League 1 Hunslet have given him an offer it seems he just could not refuse, and the South Leeds side announced his signing on social media this morning.

Crossley posted on Twitter after the deal was confirmed, pointedly saying he was looking forward to getting "a smile back on the face".

The 32-year-old came through the ranks at Bulls and made his first-team debut in 2010.

He was released the following year, going on to play for Dewsbury, Featherstone and Castleford, before returning to Bradford in April 2015.

He departed Odsal at the end of the 2016 season to join Toronto Wolfpack.

But he only signed a one-year deal with the Canadian outfit, and new Bulls head coach John Kear brought him in to try and captain the side back up from the depths of League 1.

Crossley led the side to promotion from the third-tier at the first attempt, helping them reach the Championship play-offs in 2021.

Over his three spells at Bradford, Crossley made 156 appearances, scoring 24 tries.

His new side Hunslet agonisingly missed out on the League 1 play-offs in 2022.

They visited Oldham on the last day for a winner-takes-all shootout, with whoever emerged victorious guaranteed the final spot in the play-offs.

And it was the hosts who claimed the spoils, winning the game 30-18.

It was not a brilliant season for Hunslet, as they only managed eight wins from their 20 games, a record they will look to improve on significantly with Crossley now in the front row.
