WALES head coach John Kear has named his Rugby League World Cup squad, and there are plenty of Bulls in the ranks.

Having only left his role at Bradford in April, the veteran boss has coached all of the Odsal contingent, and will be relying on them to make an impact at the upcoming tournament, which starts in less than two weeks.

The Wales side will be captained by Bulls full-back Elliot Kear in his third World Cup.

Twins Rhys and Ben Evans will also line up for their country, though the latter is already a confirmed departure, having signed for Barrow ahead of the 2023 season.

Ant Walker is selected, the prop achieving his dream of playing for Wales at the World Cup, less than two years after coming back from retirement with Bradford, following the detection of a brain condition back in 2017.

The fifth and final Bulls player to be named is Chester Butler, who recently signed a permanent deal with the club, having spent the 2022 season on loan at Odsal from Huddersfield.

Dan Fleming, who left Bulls in mid-season to join Featherstone, has also been selected, as has Dalton Grant, who spent two years playing under Kear at Bradford.

Leigh full-back Caleb Aekins is one of two uncapped players named in the Wales squad.

The 24-year-old, who was born and raised in New Zealand, qualifies to play for Wales through his mother's side of the family.

Aekins, who helped his club secure promotion back to Super League with victory over Batley on Sunday, is joined in the squad by Wakefield's Kyle Evans.

Wales begin their build-up to the tournament with a friendly against Lebanon on October 8, before their first group game against the Cook Islands at Leigh on October 19.
