FORMER England midfielder and Bradford born Fabian Delph has announced his retirement from football.

The 32-year-old went on to make 204 Premier League appearances for Everton, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Leeds and won 20 international caps after rising through Bradford City's youth ranks.

He departed the Bantams in September 2001 to join Leeds United after he was recommended to their academy coach, Greg Abbott, by former Bradford manager Paul Jewell.

The dynamic midfielder finally the made the step up to Premier League football in 2009 with Aston Villa, after impressing with Bradford's local rivals Leeds United in the EFL, but a move to Manchester City in 2015 would bring Delph his most joyous years. In 2017-18 the Bradford man collected his first Premier League title at the Etihad stadium and he and his side were able to replicate this achievement in the following campaign.

In 2019, Delph moved on to Goodison Park to play for Everton, however, injuries limited his playing time and he made just 21 appearances over the last two seasons.

His contract with the Toffees expired in the summer, and the former England midfielder has now decided to lace up his boots-albeit after a very successful career.

Via his Instagram, he said: "So today I announce my retirement with nothing but happiness and gratitude for what this beautiful game has given me. Massive shout out to my family, friends, players and staff from the amazing clubs I have been fortunate enough to represent as well as the support I have had from the fans."
