GEORGE Flanagan has signed on for another year with the Bulls - but they will be losing Thomas Doyle.

Fans’ player of the year Flanagan has been given a new deal for 2023 with his boyhood club - and he is determined to write some wrongs after the poor season for Mark Dunning’s side.

Flanagan said: “It was an easy decision having spoken to Mark a few weeks ago. I jumped at the chance to stay.

“I don’t want to dwell too much on what has happened this year. Now it is all about looking forward, coming back refreshed and putting my best foot forward in 2023.

“I wear my heart on my sleeve and I pride myself on being a leader on and off the pitch, driving the culture and standards. I look forward to doing more of that next year and helping some of the younger blokes in the team.

“This year hasn’t gone as planned but we learn from our mistakes. There are a lot of lessons to be learned and we can go into next year looking to really put a stamp on things and right some wrongs.”

Dunning was delighted to keep the 35-year-old for next season.

“There’s plenty of life in George,” said the Bulls coach. “He is carry himself particularly well throughout the season and in training.

“He is a real leader and an example in and around the senior members of the team.

“We are looking to change cultures and behaviours at the club. He understands what it means to the city and the people of the city and we need to encapsulate that more.”

Meanwhile, Doyle has rejected the chance to stay at Odsal as he considers rival offers. He has been linked with League One champions Keighley Cougars.
