CITY have unveiled Conor Marlin as the academy’s new head of coaching and player development.

The 36-year-old Northern Irishman fills the role recently vacated by Martin Drury’s move to Manchester United.

Marlin has been working as Oldham’s head of academy after moving to England as the Latics’ head of first-team analysis in 2016.

He then worked as a worldwide talent development expert with the likes of the Premier League, MLS and FIFA, advising over 50 clubs on youth development, before a return to Oldham in 2019 saw him serve time as interim assistant manager last season.

Marlin spent over 10 years in various coaching and scouting roles for the Irish Football Association as well as 16 months as Glentoran’s academy director in 2013.

He played a key role in the Irish FA’s Club NI programme, which saw a record number of players move to the UK.

Marlin said: “I am delighted to be here. When I told people I was leaving Oldham for Bradford, the first thing they told me was that this was a great club.

“I have been involved in international youth football for over 10 years and have a wide range of experience right across the pathway, which will hopefully aid me in this role.

“I am a developer of players and coaches, so am focused on building relationships with people, first and foremost, and then looking to see where else we can improve.

“I am looking forward to getting my teeth into the role and building on the good work which has been in place here over the past few years.”
