ONE OF Bradford City's brightest teenage stars is reportedly catching the eye of Premier League clubs.

Freddy Jeffreys is a 16-year-old central midfielder, but despite his tender years, he is already an important fixture in the club's Under-19s side.

He played a key role last term in helping the Bantams to win the EFL Youth Alliance North East Division.

And Jeffreys' work has not gone unnoticed, with sister paper the Southern Daily Echo carrying the Daily Mail's report that Southampton and Fulham are looking to bring him in, both sides formerly managed by current City boss Mark Hughes.

Southampton and Fulham have won an Under-18s Premier League South title each in the last two seasons, so are two of the top youth sides around.

If Jeffreys is to make the move, he would not be the first teen to join a Premier League club's academy from City's in recent years.

Goalkeeper Darryl Ombang joined Leeds last July, while Brighton brought 16-year-old midfielder Sahil Bashir in for a six-figure sum earlier this year.
