CLAYTON Donaldson will not be playing for York in the National League.

The 38-year-old former Bantams striker finished top-scorer with 14 goals as the Minstermen returned to the Conference after five years of regional football.

Speaking to the T&A earlier this week, Donaldson insisted that he would be carrying on playing next season.

But writing on Twitter this morning, he revealed that he would not be staying at York.

Donaldson said: “My time at York City is up and I would just like to thank everyone that’s connected to the club for their support and kindness, especially the fans who have been amazing.

“My goal was to help York City get promoted and that’s been achieved. Wish you every success in the future.”
