BULLS Women kicked off their Super League 2 campaign with a hefty defeat, going down 30-0 at Odsal to Featherstone Rovers.

Shaun Flynn's side underwent some changes in the off-season, with captain Grace Ramsden leaving to join Warrington, and stalwarts like Danielle Bose and Sarah Dunn retiring.

But with some fresh faces in the team, hopes were high, and with Bulls not in Super League 1 with heavyweights like St Helens and Leeds, they are expected to be more competitive this term.

Bradford were under the cosh in the first half at Odsal on Sunday evening though, as the game took place immediately after the men's 20-6 defeat to York in the Championship.

Fev barged over after only four minutes and despite some fine defensive resistance, as Bulls repeatedly kept out sets on their own line, the visitors burrowed over for a second just before the half-hour mark.

Smart play from one of Featherstone's wingers allowed her to offload to the supporting player for a third try, before a scintillating run down the line saw Fev grab a fourth right before the break.

Two of those tries were converted, making it 20-0 at the break, and a few stoppages for injuries saw a slow start to the second half.

But Fev went over for their fifth try after an hour before a dart through the middle saw them grab a converted score under the posts with 10 minutes left.

The result leaves Bulls bottom of the table after one game, but they have a chance to bounce back this Saturday at Odsal against Leigh Miners Rangers.

That game kicks off at 3:15pm, with the men's home game against Newcastle Thunder following that at 6pm.
