BULLS centre Kieran Gill has been one of the few star turns in an inconsistent season, with nine tries in 13 games, but he got it wrong on Sunday at Odsal.

A misguided kick inside and fumble from him gifted Will Jubb a try to put York 8-0 up, as the visitors eventually pulled away to win 20-6.

He held his hands up after the game, but won’t be dwelling on his error, telling the T&A: “It’s just working out your wrongs from your rights.

“I need to make sure I look back on review and see if I could have done anything differently. It’s a bouncing ball, so anything can happen.

“It’s awful, especially when they score a try off the back of it, but it’s how you work from that.

“If the team are doing as good as they can, then I’ll always put 110 per cent effort in as well.

“It’s a shame about the scoreline but we’ll do what we can this week and kick on for Newcastle.”

Gill talked earlier in the season about the telepathy between himself and half-back Dec Patton, but that has been lacking a little in recent weeks.

The former Newcastle man insisted: “I’m confident (in our partnership).

“Dec’s a great bloke and we work well in training. Our communication is always on point, but things have been topsy-turvy of late.

“As long as we can turn it round, I’m confident we can get back to where we were at the start of the season.”

Asked if Bulls can fix their awful run at Odsal, Gill said: “I hope so.

“Everyone goes on about it playing to our advantage, but in all honesty it doesn’t.

“We do what we can, train here where we can, and it’s about trying to make it a fortress.”

He added: “We need to start creeping up the ladder and into the play-offs.

“It’s about proving to everyone that we can do this.”
