CITY have announced their release and retain list, with six players confirmed to be departing the club.

Callum Cooke, Caolan Lavery, Gareth Evans, Olivier Sukiennicki, Richard O’Donnell and Theo Robinson will all be leaving Valley Parade when their contracts expire at the end of next month.

Meanwhile, seven players have been offered contracts for next season but are yet to put pen to paper.

Those are captain Paudie O'Connor, tricky winger Charles Vernam, central midfield pairing Elliot Watt and Levi Sutton, recently-signed right back Luke Hendrie, ever-improving left-back Matty Foulds and hot prospect and former academy captain Charlie Wood.

Back to those who will definitely no longer be plying their trade at Valley Parade, and arguably the biggest name out of the door is Callum Cooke, who has been at the club for three years, the first of those on loan.

The attacking midfielder was a key figure in the latter half of last season, as City threatened to pull off a remarkable promotion push, but he only started 28 times this season, and struggled to get into Hughes' starting line up by the end of term.

Fans will be sad to see the back of popular keeper O'Donnell, who had been the club's longest-serving player and was their former captain.

He began the season as first-choice keeper under Derek Adams, but was eventually usurped by first Sam Hornby and then Alex Bass.

Veteran midfielder Evans was in his second spell at City. He struggled to get into the team under Adams, and though Mark Hughes immediately brought him back into the fold, he has not done enough to earn a new deal.

Strike duo Lavery and Robinson failed to have the impact they would have liked in front of goal after joining in the summer, and they are on their way, as is teenage Polish midfielder Sukiennicki, who had signed a one-year professional deal last August.

Abo Eisa, Alex Gilliead, Andy Cook, Fiacre Kelleher, Finn Cousin-Dawson, Kian Scales, Liam Ridehalgh, Oscar Threlkeld, Reece Staunton, Hornby and Yann Songo’o all remain under contract for the 2022/23 campaign.

That goes for Lee Angol and Jamie Walker too, who have just put pen to paper on one and two year deals respectively.

Loanees Bass, Dion Pereira, Matty Daly, Nathan Delfouneso and Tom Elliott have returned to their respective parent clubs - Portsmouth, Luton Town, Huddersfield Town, Bolton Wanderers and Salford City - following the expiry of short-term agreements.

City said: "The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all released players for their efforts while with the Bantams - and wish them the very best for the future."
