LIAM RIDEHALGH will not play in City’s final game so he can go under the knife.

The experienced left back has a groin issue which requires surgery – something that the club intend to carry on as soon as possible.

Mark Hughes said: “Liam’s got a slight problem with his groin that needs an operation so we’re going to get it done early.

“We could have waited a week and he could have played. He’s fit enough to play.

“But that week will just give him a little bit of extra time to come back raring to go first day of pre-season.

“It’s better to get it done as early as we can.”

Meanwhile, Hughes is still considering whether to give Abo Eisa a late run-out at the end of his injury-ruined first season.

“I’ll make a decision on Abo nearer the time. I’ve been having conversations with him last couple of weeks in terms of where he feels he’s at.

“We’re not going to put him at any risk but it would be nice, maybe, for his own mental strength in terms of facing next season that he’s over the hurdle of getting back to play and that’s been put to bed.”
