MARK Hughes will try to persuade Dion Pereira to come back to Valley Parade next season.

The Luton attacker has become a big hit since kick-starting his City loan spell under the Welshman – scoring his first goal for the club in last week’s loss at Bristol Rovers.

And Hughes has made it clear that he would love to have Pereira back for another temporary spell if a deal can be struck with the Championship side.

Hughes said: “I like Dion and he’s done well. He hasn’t played a great deal of football in the last few years so coming here and us allowing him to play week in, week out is something he has lacked in his recent career.

“I feel sure he has enjoyed the experience up to this point.

“He’s obviously come from a club at a higher level and he’s played at a good level prior to coming here. I’m sure he probably feels he’s talented enough to play at a higher level.

“But it’s all about timing and opportunity and I just feel we’re a good option, not only to Dion but to a lot of players.

“If they feel they need a platform, it’s good to come to Bradford City at the moment and certainly next year given our intention to have a really strong season, people will want to be a part of that.

“The likes of Dion I would like to think would certainly consider it.”

City have six games to go, starting at fourth-placed Northampton tomorrow, but Hughes is already busy drawing up plans for next season.

Fans are excited by the calibre of loan player that the Premier League legend could potentially bring to City.

The Bantams chief added: “Clubs at higher leagues want to try and replicate as near as possible what the players would be exposed to if they were going back to their home clubs.

“We can do that. We can give players the opportunity to show that they can deal with expectation and big crowds behind them.

“We are having conversations with people now and they are saying that it’s a big club, it’s a city club with big crowds and playing in a way that maybe teams at a higher level will appreciate.

“Hopefully they’ll think they can send players to Bradford because they get it down and play a bit more than in previous times.

“I feel quite confident that we’ll get some good loans in.

“It’s all there for them. There have been lots of conversations already in terms of what we’re trying to do here and people can see that it could be a good opportunity.”
