BULLS have stuck to the tried and tested ahead of tomorrow night's Challenge Cup tie at home to Leigh, even if circumstances have dictated it.

Head coach John Kear insists he enjoys Monday night rugby league, but he confessed it gives tomorrow's full-time opponents Leigh a healthy advantage.

He said: "When you've got part-time players, it's not as simple as just changing our regular Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday schedule just because we've got a Monday night game.

"To get to training on time in the week, a lot of my lads have to work late on a Wednesday and Friday to compensate for that.

"If you're full-time, you can amend and adjust, but our players would need to know in advance because of their employers.

"So we've just tried to make things stable, and keep Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday training, regardless of whether we're playing on a Sunday or Monday."

Kear added: "Monday night rugby is enjoyable, but then I'm not the one who finds it tough running around the field.

"It does play into the hands of the full-time sides a bit, because we'll have had lads working until early afternoon on Monday, whereas the sole focus for the Leigh lads is rugby league, so they should be better prepared.

"But we're happy to embrace that challenge. It's a game of knockout rugby and we'll be going all out for the win."

Bulls will have to dig deep to produce a surprise victory, but they did just that against Batley last time out.

Kear reflected: "It was very pleasing as it was a different way to win compared to Dewsbury and London and you need that in your locker.

"I thought our game management at the end in particular was first class, as after Jordan Lilley's one-pointer to put us ahead, we pretty much kept them in their half and didn't give them a chance to hit back."
