CITY have sacked Derek Adams.

The Scot was fired just eight months into the job as the club ran out of patience with a disappointing season.

Adams was in charge of 37 games in all competitions with nine wins, 13 defeats and 15 draws. He leaves the Bantams 11th in League Two – eight points behind the play-offs.

Chief executive Ryan Sparks said: “On behalf of the board, it is with deep regret that we have come to the decision to part company with Derek Adams.

“A sustained period of consideration has led to this decision and it is felt that, with all things taken into account, the club must move in a different direction with regards to the role of first-team manager.

“We would like to thank Derek for his efforts while at Valley Parade and wish him the very best for the future.”

Assistant manager Mark Trueman, who lost the hot-seat role at the end of last season, will take caretaker charge for City’s next game at Oldham on Saturday.

Adams joined the club in June – just four days after clinching promotion to League One with Morecambe at Wembley. The Bantams paid a sizeable compensation fee to buy the Scot out of his contract.

He signed a three-year deal but his departure after just 256 days at the helm leaves City looking for their eighth permanent manager in the last four years.
