BRADFORD City Women enjoyed another great match as they thrashed Farsley Celtic Juniors 10-0 in the West Riding County Cup quarter-finals.

Harriet Jakeman’s quadruple strike and Hope Knight’s hat-trick were the star attraction on Sunday afternoon, as the Bantams breezed into a mouthwatering last-four clash with Leeds United.

The Bantams ladies were determined to keep up their recent winning streak, and newcomer Knight got off to a great start, finding the back of the net in the first 10 minutes.

She went on to score another two goals in the first half, continuing her great start to City life, after netting twice in their third-round County Cup win over Yorkshire Amateur Ladies the previous weekend.

But long-serving midfielder Harriet Jakeman was not to be outdone, hitting four of her own, somewhat making up for having a goal disallowed in that win over the Ammers.

Monika Stube, Sophie Hawkins and Maisie Norde also scored in the quarter-final match, as City just about managed to hit double figures.

Manager Chris Hames was pleased with his team’s performance ahead of their return to league matches.

He said: “It was good for us to get another 90 minutes together, ahead of the return to the league this coming weekend.

“In games where we expect to dominate, we want to challenge ourselves in different ways, and I’m very happy with how we rose to those targets.”

The win now takes City into the semi-finals, where they will face bitter rivals Leeds United, who sealed their last-four spot with a 4-0 win at Harrogate Town Ladies.

The last time the West Yorkshire rivals came face to face was in September, where the Bantams stunned the Whites 1-0 at Valley Parade in the FA Women's National League Division One North, with the winning goal scored by striker Hawkins.

Hames added: “It’s a tough draw, but to win this competition we knew we’d likely have to face them at some point.

“In the meantime, we have five crucial league games to plan for and to play.”

The semi-final match will be held on February 20, with the winner going through to face either Altofts Ladies or reigning champions Brighouse Town.

Up next, the Bantams will face Newcastle United Women at Eccleshill United’s ground this Sunday.

There will also be a raffle there for a signed Bradford City shirt and football, for which a ticket can be purchased for £2.
