FORMER City defender Alan Sheehan has announced that he has hung up his boots.
The Irishman has been combining playing for Oldham with a role as assistant head coach – and has passed his UEFA A coaching licence.
He now intends to concentrate on that side of the game after a career that saw him play for 12 different clubs, including the Bantams.
Signed by Phil Parkinson in the summer of 2014, Sheehan made 32 appearances in two seasons at Valley Parade. His only goal was a penalty on his debut against Coventry.
Announcing his retirement on Twitter, Sheehan said: “That’s me officially retired guys.
“No big speech but I’ve played with some great clubs, great players and met some great people in my career.
“The last few years have given me a great transition into coaching full time and (I) can’t wait for the next chapter. Thank you all and God bless.”
