THEO Robinson reckons his City wonder strike was in the top five of his long career.

Robinson got off the mark for his latest club in sensational fashion to seal an impressive win at Swindon.

The former Jamaica international has more than 100 league goals to his name – but Saturday’s stunner rates as one of the finest.

He said: “I probably wouldn't say it was the best - I scored a similar one for Scunthorpe against Colchester in 2015 and another like that for Port Vale v Rochdale. But that’s definitely up there in the top five.

“It was great to get my first goal for the club. I’ve had a few close ones and I think if I’d had a full pre-season to get up to my standards they would probably have gone in.

“All of them have dropped to my left foot and I’d been having a bit of banter with Yann (Songo’o) that I needed one on my right. Luckily that’s what happened.”

Robinson scored within a minute of coming off the bench in a double sub with Gareth Evans, the pair’s first involvement being to combine with the goal.

But the 32-year-old revealed that he had been studying Swindon keeper Jojo Wollacott’s positioning – and his tendency to stray from his six-yard box.

“I was watching him closely while I was on the bench,” added Robinson.

“The defence was in a low block and the goalkeeper was coming quite high off his line a lot.

“The first thing I thought was that if I got on, I’d have a shot because he is out of his goal.

“Gaz passed me the ball and I literally took one touch and then had the shot. It was great that it worked out that way with us coming straight off the bench.”

Robinson was not too surprised to break his duck for the Bantams at Swindon, which has proved a profitable hunting ground in the past for him.

As well as scoring seven in 15 games on loan there in 2019, he also grabbed a double on his last visit for Colchester.

“I don’t know if strikers have lucky grounds, it didn’t feel any different to any other game. But I had it in my head that I’ve scored quite a few goals against them.

“I scored the two last time so it was definitely in my thinking that it might happen again if I got the chance.

“Lavs (Caolan Lavery) got his first goal and Cooky (Andy Cook) led the line quite well and was unlucky not to score himself.

“I just wanted to come on and try to make the best impact and obviously I managed to do that.”

Lavery made his full debut but Robinson is still waiting to start his first game – Saturday was his seventh appearance from the bench since signing on deadline day at the end of August.

He said: “It’s been a strange season for me so far.

“I came in and got injured and then ill all in the same week. Hopefully that won’t happen again.

“I feel that I’m getting there and we’re all fighting to play. It’s good that everyone is chipping in now.

“That was a big win for us and we all worked hard for the team. Hopefully we can keep it going against Forest Green this week.

“It’s a good test playing against the leaders. It’s at home as well so there’s going to be a great atmosphere – having the fans back in again makes such a difference.”
