NIALL Canavan is in line to return to City’s defence at Swindon on Saturday.

Derek Adams confirmed the captain, who was on the bench against Hartlepool, in midweek is fully fit and available as well as striker Caolan Lavery.

Adams said this afternoon: “They’ve trained now for a good period and that’s allowed them to get back into the fray.

“They look good and are now able to push for a place in the starting line-up.

“You have to judge your players and judge the area of where they’ve had the injury and work with them.”

Canavan has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since City’s 1-1 draw with Walsall at the start of last month.

“Having the captain coming back again is a boost,” added Adams. “He’s left-sided and vastly experienced and adds that to the side.

“He’s got competition for places. Paudie O’Connor and Yann Songo’o have done ever so well, (Fiacre) Kelleher has come in as well so we’ve got a good choice of centre halves.”

Adams revealed there are no updates on how long Liam Ridehalgh and Abo Eisa are likely to be out. Long-term absentee Lee Angol is still on schedule to be back in full training by the end of the month.
