BRADFORD City AFC Women will take to the Valley Parade pitch on Tuesday 28 (next week) - when they take on Leeds United in an exciting West Yorkshire derby.

Chris Hames’ side will face the Whites in the FA Women’s National League North, with action at Valley Parade set to get underway from 7.45pm.

The lower tier of The JCT600 Family Stand will be open for supporters looking to cheer on the ladies, with admission available on the night at Valley Parade.

Looking ahead to the fixture, Hames spoke of his delight on taking his side out in a local derby at Valley Parade.

He said: "First things first, it's an exciting fixture for everyone because of the rivalry. Everyone loves playing in local derbies and adding to that, we are at Valley Parade and spectators will be present.

"With all that combined, it just makes for a great occasion and it's extremely exciting.

"A lot of our players haven't played at Valley Parade yet. We've got a couple of players who have been here through the years and have had that experience, but for most of them it's there first time.

"I've got to give huge credit to the club for making this happen. We identified this game as the game we would like to make it happen and the whole club have shown a real commitment to making sure we are truly part of Bradford City Football Club."

Hames was questioned whether this type of occasion would happen again in the future and he said: "I'd love to think so, but I don't know.

"We've got to make sure it's talked about, we've got to make sure we do our part of the bargain and we need to make sure that we are up for the fight, because we have picked an incredibly tough fixture, with Leeds being one of the best sides in the division.

"Hopefully we put on a show, so the fans can really get behind us. I think we need to complete this game first and complete it to the best of our ability before we start looking ahead to the next fixture at Valley Parade.

"I am encouraging every single fan that does part their time with football, to consider coming down to cheer us on against Leeds on Tuesday. It's one of the club's biggest rivals and every bit of support would benefit us massively."

The league campaign is now five games in and City have won one, drawn one and lost three and find themselves in ninth spot.

As for Leeds, they've won four out of their five fixtures and are currently sat in second, so Hames's side will have to be at their best to challenge their bitter rivals.

He said: "We need to make this fixture a cagey one and ensure we make it difficult for Leeds. If we do that, then we've got every chance of winning this game and I firmly believe that."
