ONE OF the key members of City’s 2017 Wembley play-off team could be lining up against them this weekend.

Mark Marshall has made Crawley the 14th club of his career after signing a one-month rolling contract this week.

The winger, now 34, left Northampton in the summer and has been training with the Sussex side since the beginning of the season.

He had made several appearances in friendlies before earning a deal – and came off the bench for the closing stages of Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Harrogate.

“I’ve known Mark for many years,” said boss John Yems. “He’s had a good playing career and will be a great asset for the team and the younger players.”

Marshall’s debut was not in the easiest circumstances with Crawley down to 10 men after Ashley Nadesan had been sent off.

Yems, who is never one to mince his words, was scathing with the performance of referee Darren Drysdale – and the decision that means Nadesan is banned for the visit of the Bantams.

The Crawley manager said: "I will probably get in trouble again but someone has got to look at that these games.

"Come here and do the game, don’t want to be the centre of attention. They talk to you before the game like you are all buddy, buddy.

"We have 2,000 people here every week assessing me and (assistant) Lee (Bradbury). But they get away with it and it’s wrong and I am the one who gets branded a big mouth.

“(Drysdale) ruined the game the moment he sent Nadders off.

“They both went head to head and he said he nutted him. Nadders? I haven’t even seen him tackle a fish supper."

Talking to the Crawley Observer, Yems urged referee Charles Breakspear to "manage the game properly" tomorrow.

"Let’s hope the boys are allowed to tackle and do what they need to do.

"It’s not Strictly Come Dancing, it’s a game of football."

Tuesday's point did maintain Crawley’s unbeaten start at the Broadfield Stadium to build on a first away win of the season last Saturday at Colchester.
