RUGBY league superstar John Bateman rarely holds back on social media, and he has aimed another stinging message at his critics.

The Bradford native was irked by rumours that he was set to leave Super League side Wigan Warriors, just months after his return there from Australian outfit Canberra Raiders.

There had been speculation that his Aussie girlfriend, Amy Reilly, wanted to go back Down Under due to being homesick, but Bateman has shot those rumours down.

On Instagram, he said: "Just a quick message to address the rumours about my future at Wigan.

"Firstly, my girlfriend, not wife, Amy Reilly, is not one bit homesick and she has in fact been living the best life ever by being on holiday for the last four months.

"So let me assure you, she's not homesick. If anything, she's absolutely loving England."

He added: "Also I assure (you) I'm 100 per cent committed to being at Wigan and my life back home with my family and friends.

"I can't wait to get stuck into the back end of the season with the lads.

"Thank you for the messages of concern, I appreciate it, but there really is no substance to any of these stories whatsoever."

Laughing, he added at the end of his message: "P.S., Amy will be getting a job very soon, trust me, and there's been no secret wedding."
