OSCAR Threlkeld will miss City’s opening home double-header, Derek Adams confirmed this afternoon.

The right back was taken off at half-time of the Exeter game with a bang on his calf.

He was ruled out against Nottingham Forest in midweek and Adams has admitted Threlkeld will also be absent for tomorrow’s Valley Parade clash with Oldham – and Tuesday’s visit from Stevenage.

Adams said: “It’s hard to say at this moment. But he took a knock on the calf muscle that has moved around to the front of the leg and he’s just got a soreness there.”

The City boss expects Levi Sutton to be fit to return for Tuesday after his head wound from the Carabao Cup.

Yann Songo’o could also be in contention for Stevenage, depending on how he comes through training in the meantime.

With no Threlkeld, Finn Cousin-Dawson is set to continue at the back and Adams was delighted with how he got on at the City ground.

“Finn was excellent the other night,” he said. “It wasn’t easy for him after he got booked in the first five minutes.

“But he kept his competitive edge and his all-round game was very good.

“I thought I might have to take him off because he was playing against a quick winger.

“But as the night went on, they probably didn’t put enough pressure on him for that to happen. But he dealt well with everything that was thrown at him.”
