CITY are reporting an 86 per cent increase in like-for-like sales for the club’s new home shirt.

More than 1,000 have been sold in the first week of its release, online and in store.

That is a significant increase on the same period with last season’s striped kit.

The white kit, unveiled last Monday, is based on the 1981/1982 promotion season and is proving a hit with fans.

Chief executive Ryan Sparks said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response to the new home strip. It has certainly been a busy week for our retail team.

“Sales are up exponentially and we are still looking forward to launching our away, third and remaining goalkeeper strips.”
