Mick Potter is confident the Bulls will find the right response to their St Helens drubbing when they take on Wakefield next weekend.

Potter was left bitterly disappointed after his injury-hit side crashed to a 54-0 defeat at Langtree Park last Friday.

The absence of so many players through injury and a short four-day turnaround from the Castleford game certainly did the Bulls no favours.

But Potter admitted there was no justification for such a dismal showing and is expecting a much-improved performance against Richard Agar’s side.

“I know the players can do better than they did last Friday,” said Potter. “I know they can do their individual jobs better and I take confidence from that.

“We just cannot perform like that two games in a row.

“It’s near impossible, so I would back our players to put in the right kind of performance against Wakefield.”

The Bulls fashioned brief spells of pressure at Langtree Park but Potter added: “We might have put a bit of pressure on in spasms, but the game is about 80 minutes.

“We’re not doing the resilient, tough things for 80 minutes.

“But we can do that, as we have showed this season.

“With all the injuries we have, we could have done with a four-week break, never mind a two-week break. But it’s good for the players that they have been able to rest up mentally and physically before getting back on the horse against Wakefield next weekend.”

Olivier Elima is set to captain France against Wales at the Racecourse Ground today.

Both the Bulls’ Academy games this weekend have been cancelled.

The game at Wigan is off due to them having too many players involved in last night’s England Academy game, while the game at Odsal will not be played due to a waterlogged pitch.
