Jason Crookes insists he remains open to the prospect of staying at Bradford next season, despite being heavily linked with a move to rivals Hull FC.

The winger, 22, enjoyed an outstanding start to the campaign, scoring five tries in the opening six games before being struck down by injury.

He damaged a shoulder in the defeat at Hull on March 30, forcing him to undergo surgery which ruled him out for three months.

Crookes’ early-season form attracted admiring glances throughout Super League, leading to speculation that Hull had offered him a three-year deal from next year.

He is one of 17 Bradford players who are out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Yet the Huddersfield-born wideman said: “I have not spoken to anyone yet.

“My contract is up at the end of the year and other clubs obviously know that.

“Everything is up in the air at the moment, I don’t know what I’m doing.

“I think the club need to get over the financial worries first and then they can start sorting things out.”

Crucially, Crookes is happy at Odsal and says he could extend his stay at Bradford if the club’s financial worries can be overcome.

“I’ve definitely not ruled out staying,” he added.

“My contract is up at the end of the year so it’s up to Bradford.

“If they offer me a contract I’m obviously going to have a look at it.”

Meanwhile, Crookes’ rehab is progressing well and he added: “I hope to be back in the next five weeks.”
