Bulls chief executive Ryan Duckett is urging fans to turn out in force for Sunday’s crunch showdown with Super League leaders Huddersfield.

The Bulls were yesterday drawn away to Warrington in the Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round, a match Duckett predicts will be televised live by the BBC on Saturday, April 28, potentially giving the club a vital cash injection.

With the club still fighting desperately hard to raise the next £500,000 in the Quest for Survival campaign, Duckett is keen for another bumper crowd at Odsal this weekend.

Mick Potter’s team do not play again on home soil, in the Super League at least, until the visit of Castleford on June 4.

Duckett said: “Huddersfield on Sunday is a big game for lots of reasons.

“Unless we beat Warrington and get a home quarter-final draw in the Cup, we haven’t got another home game for several weeks.

“Hopefully everyone will get behind the team on Sunday as we seek to continue our progression as a side and cement a place in the top eight.

“We’re hoping to get a crowd of around 12,000 but hopefully more.”

On the Cup draw against Warrington, Duckett added: “It’s the tie of the round isn’t it?

“It’s obviously a tough draw but we were unlucky not to beat Warrington in the league and there’s no reason why we can’t go there believing we can win.

“There is a television fee of £27,000, which will be split between the two clubs, and we will share the gate receipts.

“Playing them at home would have been better financially but Warrington are well supported and we will no doubt take a good following over there, so there’s certainly a chance to take some significant funds from the game.”

Duckett said that there was nothing new to report in terms of potential investment into the club.

Meanwhile, Jarrod Sammut saw a specialist yesterday and is now expected to be sidelined for up to 12 weeks following the posterior cruciate ligament he tore in his knee at Widnes on Easter Monday.

Bulls scrum half Luke Gale is poised to return from injury within the next fortnight.
