Craig Kopczak was lost for words when he was handed the Bulls’ player of the year award at Odsal on Saturday.

The 24-year-old prop from Eccleshill had been ever-present this season until missing Bradford’s final game at Wakefield on Friday with a neck strain.

He appeared totally overwhelmed by the honour and, having been presented with the large silver rosebowl by master of ceremonies and former Bulls skipper Robbie Hunter-Paul, Kopczak struggled for an acceptance speech.

“It hasn’t really sunk in yet – I’m still shocked,” Kopczak told the T&A yesterday.

“It’s very special to be voted for by the fans and words can’t really describe how I feel. You could tell from my reaction how surprised I was!

“It’s been a tough year for us and the fans but I’m already really looking forward to next season, especially after this.”

Hunter-Paul, who had 12 glorious seasons with the Bulls, is a former recipient of the award, alongside the likes of his brother Henry Paul, James Lowes, Jamie Peacock, Stuart Fielden and Leslie Vainikolo.

“To be classed alongside some of those names is just amazing,” added Kopczak.
