Lee St Hilaire admits revenge was on the Bulls’ minds as they snapped their six-game Super League winless streak by beating Salford.

Memories of a 56-16 drubbing at the Willows last month were used as added motivation to pick up two crucial points.

That loss was a serious low point in a topsy-turvy season and the Bulls looked determined to avoid a repeat throughout a 28-14 win that revived their play-off challenge.

“The staff didn’t really mention it but the players talked about it among themselves, about not getting embarrassed the way we did last time,” said assistant coach St Hilaire.

“I thought we took some of the positives out of last week’s game against Wigan and brought them to this week.

“We got the two points, which is the main thing at this moment in time. The feeling in the camp’s been good anyway. To get those two points we had to play well because they can score some tries.”

The Bulls jumped from 12th to ninth position after beating the City Reds, moving within two points of a play-off spot.
