There will be no hint of goodwill when a pair of old friends go head-to-head in Cardiff tomorrow.

Leeds prop Ryan Bailey graduated through the Rhinos academy system alongside Chev Walker but will be hoping to make the centre’s Bulls debut a forgettable one.

Walker is in line for a first Super league appearance since breaking his leg in a previous meeting with Bailey and Leeds while playing for Hull KR 17 months ago.

“I am really pleased for Chev that he is coming back from his injury at the Bulls,” said Bailey.

“We know that Chev will be a major threat for them and we need to be ready for him.”

Bailey will also come up against another two former team-mates in Nick Scruton and Matt Diskin, who crossed the West Yorkshire divide this winter following a testimonial year at Leeds.

The intriguing match-ups only add spice to a rivalry that needed no extra heat.

Bailey added: “Disko will want to put an early marker down at his new club and Nick has been a big player for them for the last few years.

“It is a great game, the clashes with Bradford always are really physical encounters. It will be good to play at the Millennium Stadium again and hopefully we can get the win.

“I haven’t heard from the guys yet this week but I am sure we will be all smiles when we meet up but hopefully it will be us that get off to a winning start to the season.”
