Former Bulls prop Matt James has quit Harlequins just a month into the new campaign.

The 22-year-old left Bradford at the end of last season after spending much of the year on loan at Championship Grand Finalists Halifax.

James signed a two-year contract to join Quins and was on the bench for their opening three matches of the new Super League campaign.

But he was omitted for last Friday’s game at Hull and this week had his contract terminated by mutual consent to allow him to return to play in the north.

Asked about the possibility of James returning to Grattan Stadium, head coach Steve McNamara said: “I don’t want to comment on that.

“We’ve got the squad we’ve got and it’s as simple as that.”
