As the Bulls prepare for possibly their toughest test of the campaign so far, Jamie Langley insists it could not have come at a better time.

Wigan sweep into Grattan Stadium on Friday on the crest of a wave as the only team in Super League to still have a 100 per cent record after four games.

The leaders have dazzled under new coach Michael Maguire, demolishing Catalans 58-0 last Friday – on the same night Bradford edged past bottom side Salford 7-0.

But having put together back-to-back wins, Langley is convinced it is exactly the kind of test the Bulls need.

Their previous games against top-six sides – the opening two fixtures against Huddersfield and St Helens – both ended in defeat but a lot has changed since then.

Langley said: “Wigan are the form side and they’re playing some good rugby at the moment. They are flying high and have hit their straps quickly.

“It’s a massive test but it’s just what we need to see where we’re at. There’s no better test than to be playing the form side in the competition.

“We’ve got a couple of good results under our belts but we’ll have to be right on our game.”

Even if the Bulls did not match Wigan’s attacking flair in their win at Salford, Langley was quick to draw on the positives.

He said: “We defended well. With dry ball in hand we would’ve executed a bit better.

“We’ve got a defensive structure we’re trying to adhere to but it doesn’t always work out and it comes down to decision-making.

“It clicked on Friday night and we were solid but we can still improve in a lot of areas.”
