Hamstring victim Ben Jeffries hopes to be back in action sooner than expected.

The Bulls feared their stand-off could be out for more than a month after pulling up against Wigan but he believes he can get back swiftly.

"It's always hard to judge but I am a quick healer," said the Aussie.

"I'll be doing everything I can to get back on the pitch as quickly as possible.

"It has to be right though. I've played with hamstring injuries before and you can't really do it unless you're 100 per cent.

"Blokes have to carry you and that's no good. We'll take it week by week but I'd like to think I could be fit in a couple."

Jeffries, 27, is gutted he will miss Bradford's seismic clash with Leeds at Millennium Magic.

He played for Wakefield in the Cardiff jamboree last season but was relishing the chance to run there with the Bulls.

"Being at a big club now and a big local derby, I'd love to be a part of it all come Saturday night," said the former Wests Tigers ace.

"Leeds saw us off the last time we met as well and I wanted to help set that right but it's not to be. It's disappointing but gives someone else a chance to take my spot.

"I've been happy with how I've been going recently and as the year progresses I'd like to peak at the right times.

"But it felt like I'd got shot when the hamstring went on Sunday. Hopefully it won't be too long before I'm right."

Steve McNamara should be able to recall Chris Feather (concussion) and Wayne Godwin (shoulder) when he names his 19-man squad on Thursday.

  • Wigan's Gareth Hock has been handed a one-match ban and fined £300 after being found guilty of punching during his side's 26-12 defeat at the Bulls. However, he was found not guilty of striking an opponent with his forearm.
