Bulls rookie Kieran Hyde is looking to follow in the footsteps of Sam Burgess as he makes his England Academy under-17s debut tomorrow night.

The proud teenager faces the touring Australian Institute of Sport knowing clubmate Burgess did exactly the same two years ago - and is now already a fully-fledged Great Britain star.

Hyde, who turned 18 only last month, is yet to even break into the Bulls senior squad and has only managed a handful of appearances for the under-21s.

But the talented full back/stand-off has witnessed first-hand the remarkable rise of Burgess and knows this international fixture can be a catalyst for his own development.

"I used to play with Sam at Dewsbury Moor and his dad used to coach me too," said Hyde.

"Seeing what he's done is a real inspiration for any young lad like myself. You look at him - at 18, a first-team regular and Great Britain international - and he is a role model.

"Sam's always been a good player. He showed that with England Academy and has gone on to take his chances with both hands."

England do battle at Warrington tomorrow and complete the two-game series at Wakefield the following Friday.

"I can't wait," said Barnsley-born Hyde, who featured with Yorkshire under-18s earlier this summer and is Bradford's sole representative.

"I'm really looking forward to it and it should be another great experience. Representing your country is a real achievement, especially against the Aussies.

"I've always watched them on the TV before and I've always seen them beat Great Britain growing up. But this could be my chance to beat them - and get a bit of revenge!"

However, Hyde realises the real graft needs to be done at club level.

"Hopefully I'll impress in the under-18s next year and be able to earn a first-team squad number the following season," he explained.

"That's what I want more than anything - to be involved and training with Bradford every day. It's all I've ever wanted to do.

"I've had a few training sessions with the first team this season and I'd love to make it as a Super League player.

"But I know there's plenty of work ahead and I'll be looking to start tomorrow night with England."
