BRADFORD Bulls Scholarship ended the 2019 season with a thrilling 32-22 win over Castleford Tigers at Odsal.

An early intercept saw the visitors lead before Jayden Myers – one of a number of stars who will make the step up to the Under-18s next year – reduced arrears.

Castleford stretched out to a two-score lead before Dylan Jackson’s opportunistic effort just prior to the half-time hooter.

Mark Dunning’s side raced out of the blocks at the start of the second half with Harry Walker and Marcus Green handing Bradford the lead.

Both sides traded tries, setting up a tense finale – with Lewis Camden grabbing a score before a late David Kamano interception sealed a superb win.

A number of debutants featured for the Scholarship side as they played host to the Tigers in the final Under-16s clash of the year.

With the home side probing, a looping pass out wide found the hands of Calum Jordan who raced clear for the visitors.

Bradford hit back immediately, however, when a set play from the base of a scrum saw Camden feed Myers, who dived over in the corner.

Castleford then scored twice without reply, including another half-field intercept, before the home side’s response with half-time closing in.

Jackson – just on as a substitute – spotted a gap around the ruck when camped on the Tigers’ line and darted over to bring Bradford to within just two points.

The home side soon found themselves ahead after the break.

Camden broke superbly, laying the platform for a move on the right edge that saw Harry Walker touch down despite the attention of three defenders.

Momentum was firmly with the home side, as the rampaging Green could not be stopped from close range to nudge the home side further ahead.

Back came Castleford to set up an intriguing final quarter before Camden got in on the scoring act with an effort out wide.

On 77 minutes, the visitors went over to reduce the arrears to just four points and forced a goal-line drop out as they looked to steal the spoils late on.

But as they tried keeping the ball alive, Kamano latched onto a loose ball to race clear from halfway to rapturous scenes.
