JOHN Kear insists there are still going to be “twists and turns” in the Championship play-off run-in.

The Bulls will go into the last five games after the free weekend with a three-point deficit on Featherstone, who currently occupy fifth spot.

With runaway leaders Toronto heading to Odsal next, it is looking a tough ask following Sunday’s 25-24 heartbreak at York.

But a defiant Kear said: “We are a little aggrieved (to lose) but there were a lot of twists and turns in the game – and there will be a lot of twists and turns in the last five weeks.

“You can never question (the character of the players). We’ve seen them come back – remember when we played Featherstone in the Challenge Cup all those months ago.

“We know they are a good young team who are developing well.

“We have to win the next game against Toronto. We’ve got to roll our sleeves up, prepare the best we can and try to pull off a shock.

“Sunday was a very high-quality game and people have been royally entertained. There were loads of talking points and loads to get ticked off about – just what you want from an afternoon of rugby league.”
