THREE unanswered tries in the second half saw Wigan snatch victory from Bradford Bulls in a tight Women's Super League clash at Odsal.

A strong first-half showing saw the Bulls Women head into the sheds 10-6 to the good courtesy of Sarah Dunn and Haylie Hields scores.

Then Amy Hardcastle scored a stunning 70-metre effort straight after the hooter when the sides re-entered the fray, only for three Wigan tries to claim a 20-16 win for the visitors.

Jess Harrap made her debut for Bulls with Heather McDonald and Amy Boardman welcomed back into the fold.

The home side, coached by Beth Sutcliffe and Kirsty Moroney, raced out of the starting blocks and dominated the early exchanges.

Stacey Greenwood's short ball found Dunn - who burst through two would-be defenders before racing clear from 40 metres, stepping past the Wigan full-back for the game's opening score.

On 11 minutes, the visitors created an overlap on the left edge and a move through hands found Megan Grace Holding, who reduced the arrears.

Bradford reasserted their authority on the contest and interchange Hields benefitted from swift passing out wide, with Dunn turning provider for the winger to touch down in the corner.

Defences held firm during the second quarter with the home side producing some big hits as Wigan threatened on the hooter.

Bradford started the second half in spectacular fashion with Hardcastle going over for her 15th try of the season on the first play.

Receiving the restart, Hardcastle brushed off the Wigan defence with ease before racing clear from 70 metres to touch down in stunning fashion.

But then came the Wigan comeback. Carys Marsh darted over from close range before Gemma Walsh scored on her return to reduce the arrears to just two points.

On the hour mark, Vanessa Temple stretched over as Wigan took the lead for the first time in the afternoon.

Back came Bradford, who threw the kitchen sink at the visitors, but were unable to convert territory into points late on.
