BRADFORD Bulls stars came to the fore to help Yorkshire to a 27-20 victory over Lancashire this afternoon, giving the White Rose an unassailable 2-0 lead in the Origin series.

Bulls players Leah Jones, Amy Hardcastle, Savannah Andrade and late call-up Danielle Bose all put in fine displays at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington.

Jones, playing on the wing, opened Yorkshire’s account by crashing over in the right corner following a fine pass from Danielle Bose, her club captain, to level the scores after Lancashire took an early lead.

Amy Hardcastle, who picked up the player of the match award, put Yorkshire into the lead soon after, powering over the try line in a blind side power-play.

Hardcastle, an England international, had a hand in Yorkshire’s third score as well, providing the final pass to her winger Kelsey Gentles.

Andrade came off the interchange bench to score the try of the match, beating four defenders on a strong run from dummy half to crash over.

2018 Woman of Steel Georgia Roche slotted a drop goal to make the score 21-20, before a late try sealed the victory for the Yorkshire side.

The second game of the Origin series follows the opening game which was held at Bloomfield Road in Blackpool, as part of the Championship Summer Bash.

The Bulls’ Yorkshire quartet will be back in Bradford colours next weekend, when they face a tough trip to the Jungle in the Coral Challenge Cup quarter-finals against Castleford Tigers.
