JOHN Kear admits his side will need to display similar battling qualities seen against Batley Bulldogs last time out for them to come away from the Leigh Sports Village with a vital two points this weekend.

A 16-0 shut-out of Matt Diskin’s Bulldogs saw the Bradford Bulls return to winning ways at Odsal Stadium – but tomorrow’s opponents Leigh Centurions go into the clash with six successes out of the last seven.

John Duffy’s side have bolstered their pack in recent weeks – with the likes of Jordan Thompson and Gareth Hock all joining.

As two play-off rivals go head-to-head in a pulsating fixture, the Bradford boss believes more of the same is required to stay in the hunt for a top-five spot.

“They are a very, very good team but so are we and I am really looking forward to Sunday,” said Kear.

“They are constantly strengthening like Featherstone and with the signing of Jordan Thompson – with his Super League experience – will strengthen them.

“Batley last week was the best we have defended all season and I actually thought our previous best was against Leigh.

“To have bettered that is very pleasing but we will need something similar this week in terms of commitment and attitude.

“Hopefully if the weather is a bit kinder, we can take our chances because we did miss some against Batley.

“We know this game is important to our play-off hopes but ultimately our season will be judged on September."
