BRADFORD Bulls Academy ran in 10 tries to register an emphatic 56-6 defeat of City of Hull Academy last Sunday in the curtain-raiser to the men’s clash with Batley Bulldogs.

On the back of an impressive outing at Odsal Stadium last time out, Leigh Beattie’s side raced into an early lead.

Lochlan McGill darted over from dummy half for his second try in as many games as the home side got off to a flier – before City of Hull temporarily levelled matters.

It did not take long for the Young Bulls to restore their advantage however, Ryan Butterworth gliding through a gap in the visiting defence to touch down.

With seconds left of the first half, a move from the base of the scrum saw Sam Smith feed wing partner Murphy Smith to dive over in the corner.

Cameron Berry scurried over from close range early in the second 40 as the home side continued in the same vein they finished the first half.

Despite being temporarily reduced to 12 men, Matthew Race broke before feeding the supporting Anesu Mudoti to dive over.

The Young Bulls went back-to-back as they defied their numerical disadvantage to extend their lead – Ryan Leadbeater superbly knocking down a high kick into the hands of Bradley Gallagher for his first of the afternoon.

Within seconds of the home side returning to a full compliment of players, Harry Shackleton continued his impressive form since returning from injury by touching down under the sticks.

Leadbeater saw a try ruled out for a forward pass as the Academy pressed for further scores but they did not have to wait long for another.

Gallagher spun past a would-be defender to touch down for his brace, before Bradley Ho and the industrious Ebon Scurr went over for late scores to see the hosts past 50.
