ELLIOT Minchella says he will continue to put the team first after stepping down from kicking duty against Leeds Rhinos.

The Bradford-born second row missed his first two conversion attempts in the Coral Challenge Cup sixth round upset, handing over boot duties to Rowan Milnes, who starred, scoring all four of his goal attempts.

But Minchella admits he will always be a team player and it will be up to head coach John Kear who takes on the kicking for Bulls at the Summer Bash against Halifax tonight.

He said: "I was a bit disappointed with my goal-kicking. It was awful and I've been practising.

"On Saturday I was not kicking as well, so I said to Rowan (Milnes) to do it and take over for the benefit of the team. I'm just as much of a Bulls fan as anybody.

"We know as a group how special it was to win against Leeds. We are fully aware of it and we did it for the club.

"It meant a lot to the players, the staff and the owners. But the fans have been through so much that it means even more.

"We loved the day and if we can do it again in the cup that would be great.

"Everyone was buzzing after the Leeds win, everyone was through the roof.

"We had a couple of days off, we watched the game back at Odsal. It was good to watch it back and reflect on what we have done as a group and what a big win it was.

Minchella says Bulls face a formidable threat against Halifax tonight, but the squad, buoyed by their recent league and cup form, are confident of further success in this derby clash.

The 23-year-old said: "We love playing at Blackpool. I have done it a few times, but it will be my first time for Bradford.

"It was another big local derby and we focus on that now.

"Halifax are a play-off contender. Their record speaks for itself. They have changed their coach and we know what that can bring. They are a good team, they are a top-five team. We are not taking them lightly.

"We are fully aware what they are going to bring tonight. They will know a lot about us from playing them so much, we will have to deal with that. I'm sure John (Kear) will have a few things up his sleeve.

"I'm quietly confident if we do our job we can come out as the winning side. We have got to work hard from one to 17 in the squad.

"Halifax will be just as happy they have drawn us in the Challenge Cup. They are just as good as us. It's going to be another tough game in the cup.

"It will be a good game and hopefully we can get a nice, big crowd again and get to the semis.

"We will keep our feet on the ground. They will know a lot about us."
