BRADFORD Bulls Women produced a battling display to no avail in a 24-0 defeat at St Helens in their second Super League fixture.

Bradford went into the game on the back of a superb 38-16 win over Featherstone Rovers in their opener, with Stacey Greenwood and Amy Hardcastle both scoring hat-tricks.

But Saints came racing out of the blocks and scored back-to-back tries in the opening seven minutes.

Chantelle Crow benefitted from a quick play-the-ball as the Tara Jones broke from 40 metres, Crow touching down under the sticks before Vicky Whitfield crashed over from close range.

Bradford battled back however and a superb break from captain Danielle Bose set up Leah Jones before the attack was halted by a knock-on.

Tara Jones then got in on the act for Saints early on in the second half, scurrying over from dummy half on the Bradford line.

Bradford continued to fight and held firm until the 78th minute.

Whitfield bagged her second of the game, having broken from 30 metres to beat off two Bradford defenders for the final score.
