STACEY Greenwood and Amy Hardcastle both scored hat-tricks as Bulls Women's side kicked off their 2019 Women's Super League season in style with a 38-16 win over Featherstone Rovers.

A fast start to the contest saw the Bulls race into a 16-0 lead, with Hardcastle and Greenwood (2) scoring.

Back-to-back Featherstone scores reduced the arrears with half-time closing in, but the home side raced out of the blocks to re-establish their lead.

Hardcastle completed her hat-trick early on in the second-half, before Greenwood's drop of the shoulder created a gap in the Featherstone defence.

The visitors did register a consolation score before Savannah Andrade got in on the act to seal a superb start to the season.

Joint head-coaches Beth Sutcliffe and Kirsty Moroney took charge of their first competitive game on Sunday afternoon, with the clash preceding the men's fixture.

A bullet pass put Amy Hardcastle through a gap and the centre started the season as she finished the last, racing clear for the Bulls' first score of the season.

With the visitors threatening, a looping pass along the line found only the hands of Stacey Greenwood - who read the play superbly and ran the full length of the field to touch down.

The half-back scored again in similar fashion 10 minutes later, this time breaking the Featherstone line on half-way to extend the Bulls' advantage.

Featherstone responded with two tries of their own from close range to give the scoreline a more competitive feel heading into half-time.

The home side began the second half in the same vein as the first as Hardcastle raced clear down the right edge to further add to Bradford's lead.

Greenwood secured her hat-trick soon after with the Bulls threatening to put a big score on, the half-back's footwork too much for the visitor’s defence to contend with.

It was Hardcastle's turn to secure her third and final score of the afternoon, with a Featherstone score sandwiched inbetween the centre's and Andrade's score to kick off a successful afternoon of Bradford sporting action.
