ELLIOT Minchella might skip the practice again after being restored to Bulls’ goal-kicking duties.

He proved spot on with the boot against Dewsbury last weekend, including nailing a superb touchline conversion to his own try.

John Kear has indicated that Minchella will stay on the kicks for Sunday’s Challenge Cup fifth-round clash with Featherstone.

But the vice-captain admitted that he had not been preparing for the role because Jordan Lilley was back from injury.

Minchella said: “It was weird because I hadn’t been doing any practising. Jordan was back and he was our kicker.

“But after (he missed) his second kick, he told me ‘you do the next one’.

“I can’t argue with going 100 per cent, so maybe I might not practise every week.

“John said in the changing room that I’m the kicker now so we’ll see.

“I don’t mind because somebody’s got to do it and I’ll put my hand up. I don’t mind the responsibility.

“I know what comes with it. You’re going to get one of those games where you might need to kick the goal to win it.

“But I feel I can deal with that pressure and I’m happy to do it.”

Minchella’s try was his second of the season – he scored one that was wrongly awarded to Jy Hitchcox when the Bulls won at Swinton in week two.

He also had a hand in both of Dalton Grant’s efforts after filling in as an emergency centre after Rhys Evans went off with his shoulder injury.

“I’ve had a few positions before but not there,” added Minchella. “But I quite enjoyed it.

“You get a lot of space with the ball and I just tried to help Dalton. It’s always nice to go over for a try yourself but it was also good to be involved with him scoring twice.”

Minchella expects a more orthodox involvement against Fev – and anticipates a fierce battle after the Bulls edged their Championship meeting 17-16 on the opening day.

He said: “They are a good team and will probably think they owe us one.

“We know how John loves the magic of the cup, so we’ll be fired up for it. I’m sure we’ll get another good crowd and we’re getting some momentum with three wins on the bounce.

“We’re coming into some form and everyone’s feeling good.”
