After the Challenge Cup win at Keighley last week, it's back to the regular round of Championship fixtures with the visit of Dewsbury Rams.

They are a very good side who have been playing well and have progressed over the course of the season.

They have strengthened with some very shrewd signings, both permanent and loans, and they have improved steadily over the past few weeks.

They had a tremendous victory over Featherstone Rovers, and we will have to be at our very best if we are to claim the points on offer today.

One area we will have to improve in, is our start. Once again last week at Keighley, we were very slow out of the blocks and it has been a pattern over the past few weeks.

It is something we will have to address as we move deeper into the season because in the Championship there are no easy games and to give sides the sort of starts we have been giving them is a recipe for disaster.

Of course, I will be looking for improvements both individually and collectively and I will be making changes from last week.

We have a good sized squad and they are all part of our club and valuable members of our team who can do a job if they are required but we were without several players last week. It’s safe to say that Rhys Evans, Jordan Lilley, Connor Farrell, Jake Webster, Liam Kirk, Mikey Wood and Sam Hallas will all come into consideration for selection for this game.

Last Wednesday I went to see the reserves play Keighley and I was absolutely delighted with the standard on show. We had a couple of lads who doubled up from Sunday and they also had a few, as well as some first-teamers trying to force their way back from injury such as Matty Nicholson, so it made for an intriguing game and a very tough one.

The conditions made it that way as well as the playing surface, but it was a very worthwhile exercise and I am sure that the likes of Ollie Wilson and Evan Hodgson will feel they have benefited greatly from it.

The Under-19s are getting some good wins under their belts too but more importantly for me is the fact that the young men who are playing in the side are getting better week in and week out.

I can’t think of any reason why that won’t continue over the course of the year. So it looks like they will not only have a really good year results wise but also keep developing talent wise.
