BRANDON Pickersgill insists last week's win at Batley Bulldogs can be a turning point in Bulls' season.

The full back admits Bradford are still coming to terms with life at a higher level following promotion to the Championship.

After two opening wins, Bulls suffered three defeats on the bounce but last week's win at Bulldogs has them looking up again ahead of a tough trip to Widnes.

Speaking about this Sunday's clash, he said: "It will be a really tough game for us, they have gone really well since they reformed and they will be well up for the game this weekend.

"I am sure we will take a big crowd over to Widnes like we did Batley and I am really looking forward to it.

"All the hard work we put in following the defeats paid off against Batley and hopefully now that can be a turning point for us and our season.

"We are learning more about the league now, the standard is higher and if you switch off you will get punished against some quality sides.

"Now we have adapted to that we need to push on and we are always confident in our abilities, I do not think there is a team we cannot beat in this league."

The 21-year-old has been ever-present so far in 2019 having inherited the number one shirt following Gregg McNally's departure.

Pickersgill impressed at Batley, dealing with a succession of high kicks in blustery conditions.

He said: "Personally I felt as though I went a lot better against Batley having dropped below the standard I expect of myself.

"I am the number one now, playing for a massive club and there is pressure when you play for a club like Bradford but I can handle the pressure and am relishing the opportunity."
